Junior Creative

A very exciting role in London's creative team, working on cultural insight projects to film, photograph and edit the final results.

An exciting opportunity in a successful research agency, looking for a talented documentary film graduate to work as a videographer, photographer and editor across global, cultural insight projects.

About the company

BAMM is a creative research agency, founded in 2007 and based in Shoreditch, London and Brooklyn, New York. We run research around the world, helping our clients understand commercial opportunities within consumer behaviours and culture. 

Our approach has a heritage within ethnography, using videographers, photojournalists, designers and editors to help bring to life our findings in more humanistic and creative ways.

More recently we have been using our ethnographic expertise within a more progressive, multi-media approach.  Our work increasingly uses photography and videography, combined with data journalism, interactive web design and motion graphics, for greater immersion and engagement.

We are now looking for the next rising star within the world of documentary film, working with our cultural  insight team to continue this push into the new future of visual storytelling. 

The role

The successful candidate will be expected to take responsibility for filming and photographing in fieldwork, and editing our films and curating photography for final reports. You will also be expected to develop new ways of capturing behaviour (e.g. VR, wearable technology) and working with data journalists to combine data within the context of our human stories captured.

Specific job role includes:

Fieldwork

  • Writing shot guides, creative plans, organising fieldwork logistics
  • Videography, photography within ethnography fieldwork
  • Briefing and managing freelancers covering specific countries
  • Briefing research participants online, to develop strong user-generated film/ photography outputs

Production

  • Briefing and managing freelancers covering specific countries
  • Briefing research participants online, to develop strong user-generated film/ photography outputs
  • Media management of video/ photography data, within large global projects, involving large numbers of participants

Editing

  • Building short films that support specific themes within our cultural insight projects
  • Working with BAMM’s new business team to build films to make BAMM famous within the insight industry

The candidate

The successful candidate will need to be ambitious, driven and, above all, a highly intuitive visual storyteller.

They also need to thrive in an environment where the team is constantly pushing for better, more innovative ways of delivering the work. We don’t like to rest on tired old techniques. We work best when we’re doing things differently.

Skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Proven ability in editing, videography (and to a lesser extent photography)
  • Competent in Premiere and Photoshop (and ideally After Effects)

The package

The package will include: 

  • Competitive starting salary, with an annual salary review
  • 25 days’ holiday, increasing by 1 day for each year with the company (up to 5 years)
  • Performance related bonus scheme (turnover generated)
  • Mobile phone, with monthly bill up to £70
